One of my clients wrote this very intriguing question and I’m sure he is not the only one wondering about it. I have asked my guidance this very same question in the past so read to the bottom and fine out their answer.
“I have been thinking alot about the accountability topic where I feel I must “heal the world”. I studied in a Taoist temple for seven years, studying the Tao te Ching (Dao de Jing). They emphasized “noninterference” as the number one emphasized principle in Daoism. You can see it throughout the many poems of the Dao de Jing. So when a hurricane struck, members at the temple were saying it was against Daoist principle to go provide help for those suffering. And when people got sick, the only people it was ok to help was those who were either paying us money for our livelihood, or else someone close to us whose health for better or worse affects us too because of our feelings for them (family, close friends, etc.).
Then someone pointed out to me that people who are low in their emotions get down to the apathy level where they believe that there is nothing that they can do for themselves or for others. The lower they are emotionally, the less they can seem to get anything done, and they leave the power up to the top of the pyramid. That is why dictators in government rule by suppressing people and making them feel powerless over their own lives. It’s also why news on television and radio are such powerful tools to keep people in line.
But then we find that we can do something to help ourselves and to help society. Once we start to even suggest this, people who are low in their emotional levels start to get very uneasy and agitated, and bring havoc to those who are more positive and say that there is something that we CAN do about human suffering and oppression.
So its a big topic for me. I am still working on figuring it out because I know that something can be done. You have a career around helping people, and no doubt you are getting something done. So how do I detach myself, and let things happen, and yet do my part in it? I still do not know how to do seemingly opposing things.”
What a fantastic question! Here’s what my guidance had to say about it: ”This reality (illusion) is a collaboration of all actors playing their parts and its success is measured by the degree to which each member is inspired and devoted in his or her contribution.”
What this means is – fully engage in whatever you are inspired to do, no more, no less. Now here’s the trick to living in duality; can you fully engage in whatever degree of accountability you are inspired to do and still stay unattached to the outcome knowing everyone else is also playing their role? You may desire the experience of “healing the world” and derive great joy in helping another raise their vibrations above apathy as you said. In order for you to have that experience, someone has to play the role of being in apathy so that you can rescue them. The illusion is successful (actually, can’t be anything but successful ever – period).
Fully engage in life and champion the causes that inspire you. Metaphysically speaking, there is no such thing as accountability! There is ONLY experience.
